RHP Senior Speeches 2025 – Dylan R. Class of ’25

Transcript

Happy St.Patricks day everyone, since it’s St. Patrick’s day I’d like to share the Irish blessing to you all, its a quote that caught my eye and I think it’s a little something everyone can take away from.

“May your troubles be less and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door.”

Ever since I was born I’ve always been an energetic hyper kid. This clearly has stuck with me throughout my life, even though I’m 18 and have to be a man I still feel like a little kid is inside me, as you all know I’m always cracking hilarious jokes and goofing around. At times I feel like I couldn’t be myself at the school I spent my first two years of highschool at Redondo Union.

Ever since I transferred to RHP I feel like I can be myself more because of the people I’m surrounded by and the relaxed  atmosphere of this school. Coming to RHP was a great decision regarding my highschool life.

My grades improved and so did my basketball competence thanks to coach Kitani and the staff along with my amazing teammates on the squad. I love you all like brothers and I’m going to miss every moment. It’s hard to let it all go but life must move on, basketball has been my passion ever since I could remember. My parents would sign me up for camps and leagues when I was super young and I loved it. I dabbled around a bunch of other sports as a kid like soccer, baseball, and flag football.

I pursued all these sports until about 4th grade when my dad and another dad created an AAU team.We picked all the players which were all of my friends from rec league. They picked a coach and it happened to be the legend himself THE South Bay coach also known as aaronjVille. I fell in love with going to the tournaments playing with my best friends. So I felt like I was hooked. I loved the game so much and I just couldn’t wait for the weekend because I got to see all of my friends and we got to hoop together.

Over time I started to become better and I felt like I was always leveled with my competition so it was fun. But as the legend himself, coach Kitani said the parents are the MVPs, so that’s why I’m forever grateful for my mom dad and step mom for always supporting me and taking care of me, they made sure I was never slacking and was ahead of my game while also making sure I was always in the gym and staying active.

I am also thankful to my little sister Skylar because of her I was alway aware of my actions and know I have to set a good example for her. I’m also grateful for the life skills basketball has taught me which is teamwork, discipline, and hard work – all of which will help me succeed in my next chapter and beyond.

RHP will forever be in my heart and soul because it was here that I found my true strengths and ultimately led me to follow my passions – which has drawn me to join the United States Air Force.

Shout outs

Dad You’re always pushing me to become better and stronger. You’re the coolest dude I know, we’re super similar and we understand each other. Ive learned alot from you and you teach me how to become a man. We always have fun wherever we go. You’re a hardworking man and a great father. I wouldn’t be the person I am without you. I will miss the basketball days when you used to be my coach for rec league and when you always helped me shoot and train up until my senior year, you always pushed me to be my best. You’re the chillest and coolest dad, you’re like one of the bros. The late night battles in the pool and ping pong lifting in the garage, bay club and watching sports with you will always be my favorite things to do and will be something I will miss when I’m away from home. Keep grinding dad, we’re gonna make it love you bro!

Mom, you’re the best mother ever, you’re always here for me no matter what, you’re the hardest working woman i’ve ever met. Your love and passion for your kids is unorthodox. You provide so much for me and my sister and I love spending time with you. We are always laughing and joking around. We have made the best memories on trips and car rides. We have such similar humor and you understand my stupid jokes. You’re the best cook ever and I will miss your Brazilian style food like nothing else. I love coming over for dinner and watching basketball while we eat. Your love, support and everything you do for me is something I’m forever grateful for. You’re my number 1 fan. I love you so much.

Nissa, my bonus mom. You win the best stepmom ever award for your second mom. You provide so much for the family.  You’re such a hard worker and you’re truly inspiring. You’re the smartest person I know whenever I need advice or have a question, you’re the person I come to. You make sure I’m strong and healthy by making me breakfast every morning. Not just any breakfast she is making steak and eggs potatoes, bacon. You’re always hooking me up with cool stuff like USC games, fun trips and it’s always a blast with you. You’re the life of the party. You make any and every event fun while also making sure everyone is safe and making smart choices. Everything you provide for me and the fun memories we make truly means the world and I’m grateful for everything you do for me.

Skylar, you are super fun to be around. I’m gonna miss you lots when I’m away. I love eating dinner with you and bugging you just because I feel like it and it’s funny. I always see you in the stands supporting me at my games and cheering me on. You somehow know a little about basketball and will give me some random tips which are cool. You’re a pretty rad dancer which is awesome. I cant believe your this old now its kinda weird I remember the day you were born which is kinda crazy and you would cry whenever I would try and talk to you or hold you, it doesn’t seem like anything has really changed since then. You’re gonna do great things. I hope your high school career goes great and you make the smart decision to transfer to this school. I love you lots.

Ella, you’re the best girlfriend ever. Our future is bright.  I didn’t know a girl like you exists, you’re truly one of a kind, I think I got pretty lucky to be honest. We clicked from the beginning, were like best friends you go along with my trolls and dumb jokes. I’ve turned you into a mini me which was my goal all along. You benefit my life in so many ways people don’t see. You’re always supporting me and encouraging me to do better and make sure I’m doing what I need to do to reach my goals. You also help me with other stuff whether it is feeding my jumpshots in the gym or helping me study for school and other things. Love you lots.

Special school shoutout to the boys basketball team

You all are gonna do great things i wish the best for you all it was a hell of a ride I’ve made some of my best memories and friends in my two years of time playing on this team and yea its truly an honor to be part of this legacy.

Thank you so much coach Kitani for all you’ve done for me and the team you and the staff dedicate a lot of time into this program for us to become better basketball players and better young men. You’re a living legend, as they all say legends never die. Your style of coaching is very effective and fun to play for.  I will forever remember the inspirational things you say and motivational lectures before practice and games -thank you

Another special shoutout to baseball team.

Man for the short time i been part of the team I know were in the middle of the season but its been a blast for me even though baseball has never been my main sport and even though I look more like a baseball player than a basketball player basketball has always been my sport and so picking up something new like baseball gives me a bit of a challenge which I love. It’s sure a fun and interesting group of guys which makes the experience even better  but I also hope the best for you boys and your future endeavors.

And Mr. Dicky thank you for everything, it shows that you truly care about every single player on the team and I’ve learned a lot from you on and off the field. Your dedication to this baseball team shows which I highly respect. Thank you for everything coach.

And shoutouts to all the rest of my teachers and staff members  that currently have me and have had me in the previous years, you all are amazing people and educators and have made my experience at this school enjoyable and fun. This school has great things to offer for many years to come for future generations. Thank you all I’m going to miss everyone and everything. -thank you
